| 1. |
Prior to installation, thoroughly clean the deck/hatch lid with a wax and grease remover. |
|
| 2. |
Flip the spoiler upside down on top of a smooth surface, making sure it does not mark or scratch the spoiler, with the bottom of the legs facing upwards. |
| 3. |
Install the gaskets by removing its protective liner and place them on the bottom of the
spoiler’s leg. If the spoiler requires the led stoplight, install it at this time with the screws
supplied. |
| 4. |
Insert the plastic locator strips into each of the holes. A small piece of masking tape will help hold
it temporarily into place. (See illustration 1) |
| 5. |
Flip the spoiler back with the bottom of its legs facing down towards the deck lid. |
| 6. |
Place the spoiler on the closed deck lid and move the spoiler towards the desired mounting
position. (See illustration 2)
| A. |
For Hyper Wing, Hyper Extreme and Ultra Hyper applications, refer to back page with
supplemental instructions. Make sure that the leg, where the bolts will be attached, is on the deck lid and not on the quarter panel. |
|
| 7. |
Secure the locator strips to the deck lid by placing masking tape to ensure positioning
of the spoiler onto the vehicle. (See illustration 2)
| A. |
Do not move the spoiler since this will be the final place where it will be
installed. |
|
| 8. |
Remove the spoiler by lifting it straight up; a flat screwdriver is used for detaching locator strip
from the spoiler’s leg. This leaves the locator strips attached to the deck lid. For spoilers with an
LED stoplight, while lifting up the side where the wire comes out of, mark the spot lightly with
the tip of the screwdriver for the brake light wire hole location. |
| 9. |
It may be necessary to re-attach more masking tape closer to the hole location. This will let you
open the trunk to check for any obstructions underneath. Remove any trim panels or carpeted
trunk mats at this time. If this is not the best suitable location, repeat steps 6-8 on the new
mounting position by moving the spoiler either back or forward. |
| 10. |
Prop the deck lid up slightly; this will ensure no damage will occur to the deck lid’s gasket or
the vehicle’s body while drilling, and drill 1/8” pilot holes on all locator strip holes.
(See illustration 3) If the deck lid contains a double layer drill straight through inner layer also.
Then proceed to widen the holes using a 1/4" drill bit on the top layer. |
| 11. |
If the deck lid has a double layer use a 1/2" drill bit to drill up through the inner layer. This will
allow the bolt head to tightly secure against the top layer. Do not drill a 1/2" hole through the
top layer. This will cause serious damage to vehicle. |
| 12. |
With the spoiler facing up, see step 2, apply a small amount of silicone-based caulk around the drilled holes. This will prevent leakage and rusting. |
| 13. |
While positioning the spoiler on the deck lid, insert the LED stop lamp wire through its corresponding hole and mount the spoiler with the bolts and washers supplied. Remember never to over tighten the bolts; this will cause serious damage to the spoiler. |
| 14. |
Run the LED wire down the deck lid’s support arm and connect it to the third brake light. |
| 15. |
Reinstall any panels or other items removed earlier and clean vehicle thoroughly and carefully so as to not scratch the vehicle’s surface. Make sure all metal shavings are removed completely with a soft cloth immediately to prevent future rust if left on surface of vehicle. |
